When you make a mistake in a relationship, big or small, how much does it effect, affect….effect…..bother you? Are you able to brush it off and quickly move on or do you need the other person to reassure you that everything is ok? Are you often worried that your mistake or hurt that you caused will hamper your relationship moving forward?
This is the emotional need of acceptance. Acceptance, from an emotional needs standpoint, isn’t being accepted into a group or family. It’s being loved even though you have made a mistake or hurt someone. It’s being reassured that you are still loved even though you haven’t been perfect.
